Lights, Camera, Help: Supporting Kareo Users with Convenient, Topic-Specific Videos

September 27th, 2011 by Joann Doan

Kareo provides dozens of popular support videos to help learn or refresh use of particular features. In a previous post, we provided an overview of Kareo’s robust online support. We explained that medical billing users and managers of all levels and familiarity with Kareo, including new hires with no experience, have unlimited access to manuals, quick start guides, implementation guides, guides on specific features and topics and a host of video-based resources. These include live webinars and number of self-paced streaming training videos. But, with a topic this important, and with so many support resources available from Kareo.com, there’s more to cover on the subject.

In this post, we wanted to give you more info about the most popular support videos we’ve made available for your convenience.

We make it easy to get the Kareo information you’re looking for!

In our training videos, our experienced and knowledgeable trainers present complete information and all the details you’ll need. But we realize that much of this information needs to be available as an ongoing resource to refresh users’ memories or for future — and likely repeated — reference. Plus, sometimes you simply need an answer to a specific question.

With this in mind, we’ve created a number of videos that cover the specific topics and questions our trainers most commonly encounter working with Kareo users. We’ve excerpted these videos from our self-based training courses, because we think they are useful for medical billing professionals and important to making Kareo as user-friendly, useful and helpful as possible..

Here is what you’ll find in our Popular Videos section:

At Kareo, we feel it’s important to support medical billing departments, managers and staff with a truly robust support offering. In addition to self-paced training courses and specific-topic videos, we also provide an online community and forum, live webinars and other mechanisms for making sure you have the tools, guidance and assistance you need. And we’ll be covering them in future posts to this blog.

Have a subject you’d like us to cover in this blog? Post it in the Comments section or on our Facebook page. We’d love to help you with it!

Team Kareo #2004 at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure – We Did It!

September 26th, 2011 by Joann Doan

Team Kareo was able to nearly triple our fundraising goal for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure OC

Team Kareo featured more than 20 members of Kareo employees, friends and supportersOver 22,000 registered participants, 1,600 volunteers and more than 1,700 Breast Cancer Survivors and their families participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this past weekend at Fashion Island, Newport Beach.

Team Kareo was more than happy to be a part of that 22,000.  It takes but one person to make a difference; thankfully, Kareo had more than 20 people who felt the same way.  Our initial team goal was to raise $2000, but together, Kareo raised a total of $5,810!!  Team Kareo was able to nearly triple our original fundraising goal for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure OCThank you to everyone who donated and supported our cause.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

Susan G. Komen says it best, “The Race is Over, but the Fight Continues…” The official walk is over but they are still taking donations through October 31st.  Every $125 funds a mammogram for a woman in need and could possibly help save a life.  Kareo has helped provide approximately 47 mammograms, but together, we can do more.

To donate to our team, please visit the Kareo Team Page.

Medical Billing Software FAQ – Kareo Security Settings

September 13th, 2011 by Mel Aclaro

Do Former Employees Still Have Access to Your Billing Information?

Sadly, the answer could be “yes” if you’re not already taking some of the steps Janet Anwyl, one of our Customer Support Rockstars, shows us in this FAQ video about managing your Kareo security settings.

But, even if you are taking steps to prevent access by former staff members, it’s just as important to ensure that the currently active staff in your practice each have a level of access that is appropriate to their role.

For example, a temporary or part-time staff member whose main role is to schedule and confirm patient appointments should probably have a degree of access that’s primarily limited to the Appointment Scheduler and related functions. You’d probably agree that the ability to create and edit encounters, approve and send claims or initiate patient statements, for example, should be denied in this case.

Even if no nefarious activities are intended, the consequences of someone in your practice inadvertently triggering a set of billing-related activities that he or she hasn’t been trained to perform can create a lot of frustration for you, to say the least.

Take a few moments to watch Janet’s video. If you have questions, post them in the comments section below. Or, if you prefer: contact Kareo’s customer support team directly.

Important Takeaways

In the video above, Janet discusses some key takeaways related to options you can set under Settings > Security > User Accounts.

I listed those points below.

  • Each Kareo user in your practice should have his/her own unique user account
  • Each unique user account should be assigned membership to only one group corresponding to the highest level of access he/she is intended to fulfill
  • When a Kareo user on your staff leaves your practice, his/her membership to a Group and relevant Practices should be revoked

Questions?

Take a few moments to watch Janet’s video above. If you have questions, post them in the comments below, or ping customer support.
